Giving Back

Every year, Delta Dental of Kentucky reaffirms its commitment to support programs and services that improve the oral health of our citizens and enhance the quality of life in our communities through our philanthropic programs.

The Delta Dental of Kentucky Foundation was created in 2004 to support projects and nonprofit organizations in Kentucky. In 2015, an additional charitable program, Making Smiles Happen, was established to further our not-for-profit mission.

Through our charitable giving programs, Delta Dental of Kentucky is committed to improving the quality of life for of all Kentuckians. In line with our mission, we focus on partnerships with organizations and charities throughout the Commonwealth that provide dental care and instruction to those in need and who are most at-risk within our state. In addition, our programs also contribute to organizations who provide community support for Kentucky.

Corporate Giving Policy & Procedures

Background
The Delta Dental of Kentucky Foundation was originally created in 2004 to support projects and nonprofit organizations in Kentucky. In 2015, we expaned our Foundation with Making Smiles Happen to further our not-for-profit mission.

Through our Foundation, Delta Dental of Kentucky is committed to improving the quality of life for of all Kentuckians. In line with our mission, we focus on partnerships with organizations and charities throughout the Commonwealth that provide dental care and instruction to those in need and who are most at-risk within our state. In addition, our programs also contribute to organizations who provide community support for Kentucky.

2018 Funding Priorities

Delta Dental’s core purpose is the advancement of oral health care of Kentuckians through our dental benefits programs and philanthropic efforts. In keeping with our corporate mission, we give preference to organizations and initiatives that focus on the improvement of oral health.

Grant Cycle Timeline

Requests are accepted and reviewed from August 1, 2018 - November 30, 2018. Notifications will being sent by January 15, 2019 at the latest.

Grant Recipient Requirements

New and current grant recipients must complete a service value worksheet and grant report no later than 60 days upon completion of project or once grant funds are spent (Delta Dental will supply reporting forms).

2018 grant recipients must complete and submit a reporting form before requesting additional funding.

Work with Delta Dental of Kentucky to promote grant partnerships through media opportunities, organization materials, social media, etc.

How to Apply

In order to apply for funding, you must meet the following criteria:

  • The organization must be tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code (or working for community benefit)
  • Applicants must service or benefit individuals and communities within the state of Kentucky
  • Proposal clearly advances oral health care in Kentucky.
  • The following organizations are specifically excluded from receiving grants:
    • Individuals
    • Organizations that discriminate by race, religion, color, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, age, disability, veteran status or national origin
    • Political activities, organizations or campaigns
    • Loans
    • Projects developed for commercial or proprietary purpose
    • Past grantees that have failed to provide charitable contribution surveys or other requested documentation
