Kentucky-Based USA Cares Celebrates Veterans Day with a Delta Dental of Kentucky Donation

Delta Dental’s Charitable Initiative, Making Smiles Happen, will continue its support of military families
Louisville, KY (November 11, 2016) - USA Cares is pleased to announce it received a large donation from Delta Dental of Kentucky’s charitable initiative, Making Smiles Happen®, to benefit their veteran support programs and events.
Delta Dental has been contributing financially to the organization since 2013, but has since increased its giving over the last two years. To date, the organization has received over $250,000 in grant money from Delta Dental to help move USA Cares’ mission forward. These funds will benefit the USA Cares Standing in Reflection Gala, as well as further its commitment in providing assistance to post-9/11 active duty U.S. military service personnel, veterans, and their families.
“USA Cares is an organization that goes above and beyond for our veterans. As a former Navy man, I’m honored to have the opportunity to participate in this event. I’m even more thrilled that Delta Dental has put its support behind USA Cares’ mission,” said John Weeks, Delta Dental of Kentucky Vice President and General Counsel, and USA Cares KY Chapter Board Member.
The donation will also aid USA Cares with its Emergency Assistance, Career Transition, Combat Injured Assistance Programs.  Additionally, Delta Dental’s sponsorship has made it possible for USA Cares to meet over 400 needs for families receiving financial assistance for basic necessities such as food and housing.
Delta Dental of Kentucky has a long history of supporting charitable causes, and in 2015 expanded these efforts by introducing its charitable initiative, Making Smiles Happen®. This initiative has donated over $6 million dollars in contributions, 3,056 staff volunteer hours and 280,000 toothbrushes throughout the Commonwealth.
"USA Cares has been blessed with a strong partnership with Delta Dental of Kentucky," said Hank Patton, Executive Director of USA Cares. "Their continued support, whether monetary or volunteer, has benefited our organization in more ways than we can express. What is even more important is the value they place on ‘service greater than self’ when it comes to serving military veterans and their families, whether through donated dental services for any veteran with a VA disability rating across the nation, volunteering to support the Kentucky Chapter of USA Cares, or the $261,000 dollars of monetary support they have given to assist over 250 post-9/11 veterans and their families since 2014."
